Gbile Akanni

Gbile Akanni, popularly called “Bro Gbile Akanni,” is a Nigerian preacher, author, and renowned teacher of the Word of God. Born on June 22nd in Masifa, Ogbomosho, Oyo State, Nigeria, into an “Ifa” (idol worship) family, Gbile Akanni’s journey to becoming a Christian leader is a remarkable testament to God’s transformative power.

Early Life and Spiritual Foundation
Gbile Akanni’s spiritual upbringing was profoundly influenced by the grandmother of his childhood friend, Rev. Dr. DurosinJesu Ayanrinola. From 1970 to 1973, she dedicated herself to interceding for Gbile and her grandson daily, praying for God to make them “shining lights” from their dark family backgrounds. Her unwavering faith, prayers, and support provided a refuge for Gbile during times of persecution at home. Encouraged by her example, Gbile resolved to serve Jesus Christ wholeheartedly, even in the face of opposition.

Education and Ministry
Gbile Akanni graduated from the University of Ibadan and was an active member of the Baptist Student Fellowship during his university years. His passion for studying and teaching the Bible grew during this time, setting the foundation for his future ministry. Gbile was also mentored by the legendary Christian leader Pa Elton, who prepared him to carry the message of God’s Kingdom to the ends of the earth through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Ministry and Leadership
Gbile Akanni is not affiliated with any single denomination and does not run a church. Instead, he is an itinerant preacher who moves from one denomination to another by invitation, holding interdenominational fellowships that attract Christians of all backgrounds. His ministry, “Living Seed,” is based in Gboko, Benue State, Nigeria, where he resides. The ministry focuses on teaching God’s Word and helping believers grow into righteous disciples.

Living Seed is known for its weekly fellowship gatherings and trans-denominational outreach, which spans across every state in Nigeria. A major highlight of the ministry is the annual Ministers’ Leadership Retreat held in December, which attracts over 15,000 leaders from diverse backgrounds and professions, not just the Church. The retreat is a platform where ministers and believers are equipped with Biblical truths to grow in their faith and leadership roles.

Gbile Akanni’s teachings emphasize simplicity, humility, and a deep understanding of the Bible. He introduces himself humbly as “Brother Gbile Akanni from Gboko,” and his sermons resonate with people seeking a closer relationship with God. Through his ministry, he has mentored countless individuals, young and old, across Nigeria and beyond.

Family and Personal Life
Gbile Akanni is happily married to Dr. Sade Akanni, a medical doctor, and they are blessed with four children. Together, they live at Peace House in Gboko, Benue State, Nigeria. Their home serves as the headquarters for the Living Seed ministry and a haven for those seeking God’s guidance.
