The Works of God

“Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.” — Job 37:14

Let us begin with the verse above. Substitute your own name for “O Job,” and read it again.

God is giving a personal instruction: stand still and consider His wondrous works.

In a world filled with noise, movement, and endless distractions, it is easy to live without pausing to reflect on the greatness of God. Yet the Scriptures repeatedly call us to observe, meditate on, and remember His works.

Have you ever taken time to truly ponder the works of God?

The foundation of faith is rooted in the integrity and power of God. Faith grows when we become aware of who God is and what He has done. Our trust in the integrity of His Word and the demonstration of His power produces faith within us.

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” — Romans 10:17

The more we encounter God through the Scriptures, the more faith rises in our hearts. His works testify of His nature.

Let us therefore consider the wondrous works of God.

Where It All Began — Creation

Creation is the first great testimony of the works of God.

From the vast galaxies above to the smallest particles unseen by the human eye, the universe declares the excellent wisdom, creativity, and precision of God. The arrangement of celestial bodies, the balance of natural systems, and the beauty of the earth all point to a Designer of immeasurable intelligence.

“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handiwork.” — Psalm 19:1

“O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.” — Psalm 104:24

Perhaps the most astonishing part of creation is how it happened. God did not build the universe with physical tools—He spoke it into existence.

“And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” — Genesis 1:3

“Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God.” — Hebrews 11:3

Creation reveals the limitless authority of God’s Word. His voice carries creative power. What He speaks becomes reality.

Where You Came In—The Masterpiece of God

Within the grand narrative of creation, there is a special moment—the creation of man.

Unlike the rest of creation, which God spoke into existence, the creation of man was uniquely intentional and deeply personal.

“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion…” — Genesis 1:26

You are not an accident.
You are not a random occurrence in the universe.

You are God’s workmanship.

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works…” — Ephesians 2:10

Scripture reveals that humanity was designed to reflect God’s image and exercise dominion on earth. Man was placed in the earth as a steward and governor under God’s authority.

Understanding this truth is where the discovery of purpose begins.

When a person realizes that they are fashioned by God and intended for divine purpose, their perspective toward both God and life begins to change. Their heart aligns with the Creator, and their actions begin to reflect that alignment.

A transformed heart produces a transformed world.

Furthermore, notice something remarkable in the creation story: God spoke to Himself when creating man.

“Let us make man in our image…” — Genesis 1:26

This reveals the dignity and value placed upon humanity.

Never forget who you are.

“I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.” — Psalm 82:6

You are created by God and belong to Him.

Where You Are—The Present Choice

Every person eventually finds themselves in one of two spiritual positions:

You are either in the world or in God through Jesus Christ.

But to understand our present condition, we must briefly revisit what happened after humanity entered the world.

The story of man is incomplete without acknowledging the fall.

Through deception, man fell from the grace and fellowship of God. Humanity was separated from the place of authority and communion originally intended.

“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin…” — Romans 5:12

Sin introduced corruption into the human condition and into the world system.

Yet even in the midst of the fall, the works of God did not cease. God began a redemptive work to restore humanity.

Today, every person must make a choice.

You are either:

  • Living in the corruption of the world system, or
  • Restored to God through Jesus Christ.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son…” — John 3:16

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature…” — 2 Corinthians 5:17

Through Christ, the fallen story of humanity can be rewritten.

The works of God stretch across time:

  • Creation shows His wisdom and power.
  • The creation of man reveals His intentional design and purpose.
  • Redemption through Christ displays His love and mercy.

These are not ordinary works—they are wondrous works.

And so the instruction still stands today:

“Stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.” — Job 37:14

Pause. Reflect. Let your heart meditate on what God has done, and allow His works to strengthen your faith.

See you in the next post.
